Comparing the All-on-4 Technique With Traditional Implant Dentures
Traditionally, eight implant posts were required to replace an entire arch of missing teeth. Patients with mild-to-moderate jawbone deterioration often needed preparatory bone grafting to qualify. With All-on-4, dentists can place just four to six implants to support a full arch, as two of these posts are inserted at strategic angles. This maximizes the existing bone material, allowing these patients to forgo bone grafting.
Patients who undergo this type of full-arch dental implant placement can also enjoy an immediate restoration. A temporary set of healing teeth is placed on the same day as the surgery, meaning you do not have to wait to experience a restored smile.
Take a Closer Look at All-on-4 Dental Implants
See how All-on-4 dental implants can restore a full arch of missing teeth. With this method of placement, our dentist places six implants instead of four. This allows for greater stability and superior, long-lasting results overall.
Benefits of All-on-4 Dental Implants
Better Bone Health
Dental implants are the only restorative dentistry procedure that can stop and prevent the bone loss that results from tooth loss.
Superior Stability
With All-on-4, there's no need for messy denture adhesive. Your denture is secured directly to the implants, with no risk of slippage when you eat or speak.
No Preparatory Surgery
For patients with mild-to-moderate jawbone deterioration, there is often no need for preparatory bone grafting.
Is All-on-4 Right for You? Candidacy Factors You Should Consider
Wondering if you are a good candidate for full arch dental implants? You may be a good candidate if you meet these requirements:
Good oral health
Before your All-on-4 placement, you must be free of oral health issues like tooth decay and gum disease. This ensures a healthy foundation for your implants and reduces your risk of implant failure. These items can be addressed as a part of your treatment plan prior to receiving implants.
Sufficient jawbone material
You must have sufficient jawbone material for the implants to graft to. Those with mild-to-moderate jawbone loss may qualify for treatment. However, if you have significant bone atrophy, you may require preparatory bone grafting.
Do not use tobacco products
Tobacco use has been linked to an increased risk of dental implant failure, as well as numerous other oral and overall health concerns. It is best that you stop all tobacco use before your implant placement.
Have significant tooth loss
All-on-4 treatment is designed to replace a full arch of missing teeth with a full denture. If you are only missing one tooth or several teeth, an implant-supported dental bridge or crown may be best for you.

Post-Op Care Guide What to Do After Dental Implant Surgery
It is normal to experience some discomfort in the first few days after your implant surgery. Here are a few tips to help make your recovery as smooth as possible:
Take Medication
Many people are able to manage any discomfort with over-the-counter pain relievers. Your doctor may prescribe you other medications. If that's the case, take them as directed.
Manage Swelling
Ice packs are a great way to minimize swelling and pain. Place them on your cheeks for about 20-30 minutes at a time.
Elevate Your Head
Keep your head elevated on a pillow while you sleep. This will also help minimize swelling and pain.
Eat a Soft Diet
For the first few days to a week after surgery, eat soft foods or liquids. This will help reduce irritation to the sutures and implant site.
If you experience troubling symptoms such as pain that is not easily managed, excessive bleeding or swelling, or a fever, please call our practice in Saratoga Springs, UT, so we can promptly address your concerns.
Frequently Asked Questions About Full Arch Dental Implants
Q. How long will my dental implants last?
A. Implants are made of durable titanium and designed to last a lifetime. However, your dentures will wear over time with use and will eventually need to be replaced. With proper care and maintenance, your restoration can last for up to 15 years or more.
Q. How do I care for my new smile?
A. You will treat your dental implants and dentures just like natural teeth. Be sure to brush with non-abrasive toothpaste. Don't forget to floss. Maintain regular dental visits and exams to keep your smile beautiful and healthy for years to come.
Q. What is the healing time for All-on-4 implants?
A. It typically takes about three to six months for the implants to fully fuse to the jawbone in a process called osseointegration.
Q. Does getting dental implants hurt?
Thanks to Yomi, our patients report less pain following surgery. Patients typically say it’s between 0-4 on a 1-10 pain scale in the two to three days after surgery, making it less painful than tooth extraction.
